To Rebel or Not?

You are a colonists in Massachusetts in 1774. The Boston Massacre happened in 1770 and the Boston Tea Party happened in 1773, what are your feelings toward the King of England? Will you join the rebels or stay loyal to the king? Pick one and tell me why you made that decision in a paragraph.

Colonial Regions

You need to pick one of the 3 Colonial Regions (New England, Mid-Atlantic, or Southern) we have studied, and write a "Day in the Life..." story using as many characteristics of that region from the Blue Packet as you can. Do not stop being creative until you have used all of them.

Colonies

You are to write a story about why you wanted to come to the New World and then what your life is like once you are there. Your topics to chose from are a Quaker going to Pennsylvania, a Puritan going to the Massachusetts Bay Colony, or a debtor prisoner going to Georgia. Your story should be multiple paragraphs and do not forget to sign in your name.

Ohio River

You are a colonist in the New World.  You and your family have decided to move west in order to gain more land.  You need to describe what your journey was like through the Allegheny Mountains and finally to the Ohio River.  What was the land like?  Did you see any other people out there?  What were the First Americans like, friendly or hostile?  Where did you finally decide to settle?  What are you now doing for a living?  What is your life like?

I want you to write a short story and tell me about your adventures.  You need to use your best grammar and be creative.  This should be a few paragraphs and it should answer all the questions I asked above and more.

Reconstruction

How do you think the North should have treated the South after the Civil War?  Do you think they should have been oppressive (strict) or lenient (easy)?  Tell me why.

Pick a side of the Civil War.  The North or the South.  Tell me why you picked the side you did.  3 to 5 sentences.

President Lincoln

Do you think electing Abraham Lincoln president was a good thing for the country or a bad thing for this country?  Think about what happened as a result of his election and also how he is thought of today.  Give me a couple of sentences.

The Decision to Secede

Do you think the South's decision to secede from the Union was the correct call?  If they had not left the Union, how else could they have tried to keep their lifestyle?

Reformers

Would you rather have been an abolitionist or a suffragist?  Pick one and only one and tell me why you would have been more likely to help them for their cause?  An abolitionist was someone would wanted to do away with slavery and a suffragist was someone who wanted equal rights for women. 

Westward Expansion

You are headed west during the period of Western Expansion.  You are either going to California to mine for gold, Oregon to be in logging, or to the Great Plains to become a farmer.  You need to tell me which one you picked, as well as, telling me about your journey moving west and what your life is like now you are settled and starting over.

War for California?
